Apa khabar Surabaya pak - Day 2

Day 2

4am wake up boys and girls...time to head to Bromo. Our van came and the road to Bromo was pitch black. Managed to catch a few naps in between until we reached to Lava Lava hotel (the same management of the hotel we stayed in Probolinggo)

After arriving we had to wait for another 4 wheel truck to pick us up and take us to the mountain base (its called Panjaknakan, I think). They also offer for jacket and gloves rentals here

As we reached to the base, we had to get down and walk for about 1 km to the peak. There are also horse ride for rental if you do not wish to walk (sorry there were no photos at this time...my blunder hehe)

Anyway...

At last, we reached the summit........ a the view??????????

AWESOME...........that's Bromo peak (priceless) on the background...we will be heading there later

Next destination..Mt Bromo peak

Bromo peak from afar....reminds me of the movie Close Encounters of the 3rd kind by Richard Dyfress???Dyfess?? he's a legend before Steven Spielberg comes in (i think or is he the actor...too old to remember duhhh)

When we got here, its feels like you are in another planet..as the terrain is flat, no trees or vegetation and filled with grey ashes

Then comes the fun part...we got to ride on a horseback/ponies??? to the peak....that's a first for everyone. Some of us were escorted/guided by the guides

Me??? I got to ride by myself...yeaaaa....(mode:perasan lagi)

After about 20 minutes on a horse trail we reached almost to the summit.....what a view and the weather is quite mild now

Next...climbing the steps on the background...quite taunting and challenging

It's sandy like surface makes it very hard to climb

But the view from the top is again priceless

At last, we reap the benefits...the smoke from the lava filled mountain still spew from the bottom

If you look closely, there is a faint view of some people walking/climbing on the horizon...simply unbelievable

We spend for about 30 minutes on the peak before descending ..but more people are climbing up. some locals were there to offer their prayers to the mountain gods

Whewww..what a day, what an adventure that was....It was truly amazing and really worth it. We took the van to our hotel,  had a late brunch and rest for a while.

Next on the list - taking public bus to Malang
